What is your primary product or service?
Here at Burke, we strive to produce the best, most appealing, and most delicious gourmet candy and ingredients with great customer service. We know that once you have tasted our gourmet candies you will come back again and again.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
Candy making is our passion. Four generations of Burkes have worked for over 80 years producing small batches of gourmet confections daily. Current owners Tim and Julia Burke have run Burke Candy for almost 20 years, continuing a tradition that started when the company was founded by Tim's grandfather. One of our specialties is our Grandmother Reilly's Chocolates products, based on the recipes of owner Julia Burke's own grandmother. Grandmother Reilly's Chocolates include chocolate-dipped caramels, toffee, truffles, turtles (which we've named "Flying Ts" after how fast they fly off the shelf) and candy cane chocolates.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
At Burke Candy & Ingredients, we provide safe, quality food products that are consistent and fulfill all governmental regulations. Our specialty ingredients set the bar high for our competitors and our customers know they can count on us to provide them with products that meet or exceed their expectations. We do what other won’t because we are nimble and flexible. We understand our customers’ needs and know that building strong relationships with them is the key to our success. Our passion lies in getting it right and our employees understand and execute their responsibilities through communication and training. We continuously review, measure and improve our capabilities to provide safe, quality food products while making giving back to our community a priority.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
One location located in the Riverwest area of Milwaukee, WI. Our 12,000 square foot site consists of both a candy store and a candy factory, and our confections are freshly made on site. We definitely hope to expand in the future!
