How long have you been in business?
The String Academy was founded in 1990 at the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee.
What is your primary product or service?
The String Academy is an after-school/Saturday music school for violin, viola and cello for students ages 4-18.
Music curriculum includes a combination of weekly individual lessons and group lessons. Weekly group lessons include ensemble playing, aural skills, and opportunities to perform solos. Students are placed in groups according to their level of playing. SAW students range in levels of beginners to high levels of artistry. There are numerous opportunities for performing. The School presents over 50 performances a year at UWM, area senior retirement centers, libraries, schools, places of worship.

String Academy faculty are all professional musicians that are trained and dedicated to teaching pre-college.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
The String Academy of Wisconsin teaches a comprehensive music curriculum in a setting of excellence . Besides lessons on one's individual instruments, classes include aural skills and music theory, ensembles, chamber music and opportunities for performing(solos and groups). Students are encouraged to work to their highest potential in a nonjudgmental environment, developing a life-long love of music. Alumni have gone on to become professionals in the music field as members of major symphony orchestras, universities and chamber music groups. Alumni also have distinguished themselves in the fields of engineering, technology, medicine, social work along with keeping music as an important part of their lives. 99% percent SAW graduates have gone onto to colleges and universities including MIT, Harvard, Stanford, Yate, University of Wisconsin, University of Illinois, Indiana University, Rhode Island School of Design, and the US Naval Academy.
